Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Georgia by October 2020 to elect the 150 members of Parliament.
Electoral system
The 150 members of Parliament are elected by two methods; 77 are elected from a single nationwide constituency using closed list proportional representation with a 3% electoral threshold. The other 73 are elected in single-member constituencies using a modified two-round system, in which candidates must receive over 50% of the valid vote to win in the first round. A second round is held between the top two candidates if there is no winner in the first round.[1]
In June 2019 the Georgian Dream government decided to switch the electoral system to full party list proportional representation without any electoral threshold.
however the decision was overturned since the legislative amendment did not get enough votes in parliament, because of this the 2020 elections will be held like the previous ones and the 2024 election with full proportional representation
