Al-Karama (Arabic: الكرامة) is a Syrian football club based in Homs. Founded in 1926, it is considered to be one of Asia's oldest sporting clubs. The club counts 5 Syrian league titles (1975, 1982-1983, 1983-1984, 1995-1996 and 2005-2006 seasons), and 4 Syrian league cups (1983, 1987, 1995, 1996). It also was the first Syrian team to win both the league title and the cup in the same year. They play at the Khaled bin Walid Stadium.

AFC Champions League 2006 Run

In their 1st Asian CL campaign this side has reached the Semi Finals so far, putting out some notable top Asian sides. In the group stage they were paired with one of UAE's top sides Al Wahda, Saba Battery of Iran who were led by the world’s leading international goal scorer Ali Daei and Qatari League champions current Al Gharafa. They finished top of their Group to qualify for the Asian CL quarter finals with 4 wins and 2 losses.

In their quarter final they got the worst possible draw and faced current holders Al Ittihad. They lost the 1st leg away from home 2-0 and had it all to do in the home leg. In their home leg they were 2-0 up after 90 minutes and went into extra time. In extra time, Mohanad Ibrahim scored 2 goals and Al-Karama ended up winning the game 4-0 and the overall tie 4-2 on aggregate causing one of the biggest shocks so far in AFC Champions League history [1].

They would face Al-Qadisya of Kuwait in the semi-final. The first leg took place in Homs, Syria. The score came out to a 0-0 draw. Al-Karama being the better side of the match. Al-Karama had about 15 shots and about 85% of the possession. Al-Karama were really unlucky to come away with a nil all scoreline.

The return leg took place in Kuwait. Al-Karama went ahead unexpectedly in the 14th minutes through Atef Jineyat. They would hold on to this lead til the end of the game.

They now head into the final along with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of S.Korea.

On November 1 2006, Jeonbuk (South Korea) defeated Al Karama 2 - 0 in South Korea. In the second match, Al Karama was able to win 2 - 1 in Syria. But lost on aggregate 3-2 giving Jeonbuk the 2006 AFC Champions League title.
