Speedy deletion nomination of Humanitarian Open Streetmap

Hello JamieWoodhouse,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Humanitarian Open Streetmap for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

"Notable Sentientists"

Having a list of "Notable Sentientists" is fine. However, there needs to be a reliable source that directly states that person is a sentientist, either that you provide or that is already included in that person's article. Citing combinations of vegan/human/vegetarian/athie/-ism is a violation of WP:SYNTH. I hope that helps. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 14:14, 2 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Sentientist

Wikipedia policy requires that any category added to an article must be supported by information in the article. The majority of people you added this category to have no mention of "sentientism" in their articles, so I have removed the category. Please do not add it back until there is information cited from third-party WP:reliable sources or direct statements from the subject saying that they are a "sentientist", i.e. an article with "sentientism" in the title by the subject is not sufficient unless they make a positive statement of their views and identify as a sentientist. You have a Conflict of Interest in regard to Sentientism

Information icon Hello, JamieWoodhouse. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

  • As the "leader of the Scientist movement" -- as I just read in an article -- you obviously have a conflict of interest (COI) in regard to any editing which involves sentientism, where it's in articles, or categories, or anywhere else on Wikipedia. You need to read our policies on WP:COI, and you should put a notice of your conflict at the top of your talk page, and on the talk page of any article you are conflicted on. Obviously that includes Sentientism and any of the articles about people you claim are sentientists.

Thanks for the comment. I am not the "leader of the Scientist movement" or the leader of the Sentientism movement. Sentientism is just a worldview (in the same way as humanism, biocentrism or ecocentrism). While there are online community groups around Sentientism there is no organisation, no leadership and no funding or compensation. I think Sentientism is important so I am working to raise awareness of it - so there is a risk of bias. I will always try to ensure any edits I make or propose are neutral and well-sourced. I'm sure many edits to other "worldview" pages are made by people who understand and hold those worldviews - they work to resist bias too. Any further guidance is welcome.
