Kid Kash (born David Cash on July 31, 1969) is an American professional wrestler known for his work in World Wrestling Entertainment, Extreme Championship Wrestling and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Career

Kid Kash debuted in 1990 after training for two years with the legendary Ricky Morton and Stu Hart, facing Wahoo McDaniel. Working as a welder by day, Kash wrestled on the independent circuit for six years. In 1995 he formed a short-lived tag team with Morton (under the name David Jericho.)

Extreme Championship Wrestling

Kash's first mainstream exposure came in late 1995 when he debuted with Extreme Championship Wrestling. He remained with ECW for a year, then spent six months in the World Wrestling Federation.

Kash returned to ECW in December 1996. One of the few Southern wrestlers in ECW, he joined the Full Blooded Italians and remained with the promotion until it folded in April 2001, winning the ECW World Television Championship on August 27, 2000. He had a brief stint in WCW as Cash before the WWF bought them out as well.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling

On August 14, 2002 Kash re-emerged in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as part of the X Division. Using the gimmick of a cocky, obnoxious heel, Kash eventually won the TNA X Division Championship. He was managed by Trinity for some time, and eventually turned on her, leading to a somewhat controversial series of matches and physical confrontations between the two. Coming across thereafter as a misogynist, he also had problems with Traci Brooks around that time.

On March 24, 2004 Kash was given a partner, Dallas, who was purportedly related to him. On June 21, 2004 Kash broke his fibula; while injured, he was suspended for criticising TNA in an interview. Kash and Dallas would twice win TNA's NWA World Tag-Team Championship.

Kash was released by TNA on April 19, 2005 after he gave a radio interview where he protested the fact that he was not being allowed to appear at ECW One Night Stand 2005, criticised the TNA policy of using newer wrestlers in top spots rather than wrestlers with more tenure, insulted America's Most Wanted and claimed that he would not re-sign when his contract expired in September 2005. Kash had also been involved in a number of backstage confrontations with A.J. Styles.

World Wrestling Entertainment

Kash debuted in Ohio Valley Wrestling on May 25, 2005 as part of a title tournament, hoping to be offered a WWE contract.

His first appearance on television was as one of many interferers in the main event at ECW One Night Stand 2005. His first official proper WWE outing, however, was the June 19, 2005 airing of Sunday Night HEAT against Tajiri in what was designated a tryout match. On June 23 he said in an interview that "You never know what the company is looking for. I might not be what they're looking for. I can only hope", indicating that he continued to pursue a WWE contract [2]. On August 3, 2005, he was reported to have signed a developmental deal with WWE and to have been assigned to Deep South Wrestling.

Upon Kash's WWE debut, he became only the second former TNA X Division champion on the WWE's active roster (the first being Frankie Kazarian).

He went on to make successful appearances on Velocity through October and November, where he defeated Funaki and Scotty 2 Hotty among others, and rose through the ranks of its cruiserweight division. Kash made his first appearance on SmackDown! to assist MNM in beating down The Mexicools, in particular performing a Brainbuster on Cruiserweight champion Juventud, signaling for a future title match. On the December 16th edition of SmackDown!, Kash defeated Super Crazy. On December 18th, 2005 at Armageddon, Kash defeated Juventud with his Dead Level brainbuster to become the WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

In January 2006 it was be reported that Kash had suffered an injury during a house show. A few weeks later, during a backstage promo between Kurt Angle and Mark Henry, Kash could clearly be seen in the background with his arm in an orthopedic cast.

Kid Kash lost his Cruiserweight Championship at the 2006 Royal Rumble in a Cruiserweight Invitational, involving himself, Funaki, Jamie Noble, Paul London, Nunzio and Gregory Helms, after Helms pinned Funaki. On a later SmackDown! Kash was suppose to get his rematch for the title, but due to a family emergency he had to miss the tapings and his rematch.

At No Way Out 2006, Kash finally got another shot at the title in a nine-way WWE Cruiserweight championship match also involving Psicosis, Super Crazy, Nunzio, Funaki, Scotty 2 Hotty, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, and the champion Gregory Helms. Kash had the match won after hitting his Dead Level Brainbuster on Psicosis but Super Crazy broke up the pin with a Moonsault which then allowed Gregory Helms to roll onto Psicosis for the 3 count.

After losing the Cruiserweight title at the Royal Rumble, Kash began to frequently tag team with fellow cruiserweight Jamie Noble to take on the face members of the cruiserweight division; during May 2006, Kash and Noble debuted a gimmick, where they wore dog collars and often barked and bit. The pair were soon named The Pit Bulls and entered the hunt for Paul London and Brian Kendrick's WWE Tag Team Championship. However, the team came to an end upon Kash's release from the company on September 27th, 2006 [1].

Post-WWE

At the end of British promotion 1 Pro Wrestling's Fight Club IV show in November 2006, it was announced that Kash was the #1 contender for its then-newly created Openweight Championship. Kash will now be facing the reigning champion Pac at No Turning Back in early 2007.

TNT Pro Wrestling on December 12, 2006 saw one of Kash's first post-WWE matches, Kid Kash vs. indy star JD Michaels in Virginia.

Personal life

Cash has numerous tattoos including Jesus Christ hanging from a cross on his back.

Cash was also a welder before he became a wrestler and is a close friend to Rob Van Dam.
