Flinton is an village in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, United States. It comprises a land area that is part of Chest, White, and Reade townships. Flinton has a post office with ZIP code 16640. The population of the area, based on the ZIP Code Tabulation Area for ZIP code 16640, was 841 at the 2000 census.

Demographics

As of the census [2] of 2000, there were 841 people, 312 households, and 243 families residing in Flinton's ZIP Code Tabulation Area. There were 506 housing units. The racial makeup of the borough was 99.5% White, 0.2% Black and African American, 0.1% American Indiana and Alaska Native, and 0.1% Asian (Korean). Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.1% of the population.

There were 312 households out of which 30.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.9% were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.1% were non-families. 16.3% of all households had individuals living along in them and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.00.

Population in the area was spread out with 26.0% under the age of 20, 4.4% from 20 to 24, 29% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39.7 years. Of the population 18 years and over, 39.4% was male and 37.9% was female, for a total of 77.3% of the population 18 years and over. 73.6% of the population was 21 and over and 15.9% of the population was 65 and over.
