Rise of the Guardians, formerly titled The Guardians of Childhood, is an upcoming computer-animated comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and due for release on November 21, 2012.[1] It is being directed by Peter Ramsey and co-directed by William Joyce.[2] The film is based on The Guardians of Childhood, forthcoming books by William Joyce,[3] the creator of Rolie Polie Olie and Meet the Robinsons, and is being described as "a contemporary fairytale based on existing fairytale characters".

Plot

The film features a group of heroes from various childhood stories - Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and Jack Frost (Chris Pine) - who join in an adventure to stop Pitch the Boogeyman (Jude Law) from sending the world into "eternal darkness".

Cast

Production

Originally, the film was set to be released on November 2, 2012, but DreamWorks Animation pushed the film to November 21, 2012 to avoid competition with Pixar's upcoming film Monsters University which had been pushed to November 2, 2012 to avoid competition with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.[1] Monsters University has now been pushed to June 21, 2013, with Wreck-It Ralph taking its place.[5]
