- 05:3305:33, 29 December 2023 diff hist +151 President of Harvard University Most explicit comment yet: "...Lawrence H. Summers will be officially installed as the first Jewish president of Harvard University...because many...mistakenly assumed that Harvard has already had a Jewish president: Neil L. Rudenstine. In fact, Rudenstine’s two grandfathers were Jewish, but the former University president is Episcopalian." It seems Harvard itself agrees that Summers was its first Jewish president.
- 05:1305:13, 29 December 2023 diff hist +168 President of Harvard University The reason Summers' is considered Harvard's first Jewish president is because Judaism follows matrilineal descent. The fact that Rudenstine's father was Jewish is irrelevant. As for having and demonstrating any love or sympathy for Jews or Jewish causes, an apt comparison to Trump may be made, who is not Jewish but who has Jewish grandchildren because his daughter converted and married Jared Kushner. But this doesn't make Trump himself Jewish anymore than Rudenstine was.
