Tubefilter, Inc. is a privately held company based in Los Angeles, California that operates a series of media properties focused on the online entertainment industry.[1] Tubefilter is best known for Tubefilter News[2][failed verification], an online trade publication targeted at the producers and distributors of web television content that features the best[3] in episodic scripted serialized web series.[4][5] The company also operates the Streamy Awards, as well as a weekly web television guide[6][5] and hosting monthly Web TV meetups[7] Tubefilter News describes itself as the leading web television trade publication in Hollywood and has broken such major stories as Apple, Inc.'s foray into original content production[8][9][failed verification] and the launch of Joss Whedon's cult series Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.[10][11][failed verification] Tubefilter News is the first web television trade publication ever to be quoted by Variety,[12][failed verification] and its staff are regularly quoted by major media outlets when covering the web television industry.[13][14][15]

Tubefilter Network

Tubefilter integrates a number of blogs and services into its network. These include:

  • Tubefilter News (launched June 2008), a trade publication for the online entertainment industry.[16]
  • Tubefilter Jobs (launched February 2009), a new-media and web television focused job board.[17]
  • Web TV Schedule (launched August 2008), a guide to web television release schedules.[18]

Programs

Tubefilter is a founding host of the Streamy Awards,[19][20] which honor excellence in web television production. They were also a sponsor for the 4th Annual ITVFest[21] and they helped to form the International Academy for Web Television.[22] Co-founder Brady Brim-DeForest used his Tubefilter credentials to garner a spot as an expert judge at the 2009 Twiistup 6.[23]
