Irrelevant Links and Cites

Hi ash! Thanks for the welcome. I noticed many <ref> tags and links pointing to irrelevant content on many pages. Also there are { cites } which should ideally be in the ==External Links== sections, if at all. Can you please tell me how to mark them for review by admins/more experienced editors? TechXcell (talk) 05:56, 17 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @TechXcell! Sorry for not having responded earlier. Nevertheless, you can edit or delete the unrelated contents and links on your own. It isn't really required to mark them for review by reviewers or skilled contributors. If you have any difficulty, let me know or you might ask help here. I also suggest you to create your own userpage. --115ash→(☏) 08:01, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome

Used Wikipedia for years, but never contributed before. Finding my way round the protocols - thanks for your welcome and I hope to contribute more in the future.Bedford67 (talk) 09:16, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and I need help.

Hi, I'm not used to this, and so I appreciate any help you could give me. An editor indicated that my new citations on the Andrew R. Heinze page were messed up. I'm not sure what is wrong with them, but it's probably something for sure. Maybe I should have answered the person who flagged them, but I don't know if that's the way I should do it (and I don't know how to do that anyway). I DID read all about how to do all this stuff, but it seems so mysterious, I couldn't for the life of me figure it out. Thanks so much.EastDimeBoxFrank (talk) 08:46, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @EastDimeBoxFrank. Most of your references were independent sources. Please read --> WP:RELY. I recommend you to create a new section to Talk:Andrew R. Heinze, so the problems may be resolved. --115ash→(☏) 14:57, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi (I couldn't figure out how to put your name in here), Thanks for your comment. I just did as you suggested and created a new section on the Andrew R Heinze talk page. As I said on that new talk section, I feel bad about messing up the Andrew R Heinze Wiki article because it didn't have flags on it before I added the new citations. An article with flags on it looks bad. (I guess it's true, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.") In any event, now I want to make it good. So... can I take my mistakes one by one (on that talk page) and correct each one? You said that most of my references were independent sources... that's good, right? EastDimeBoxFrank (talk) 19:22, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Right now I am improving a bunch of the sources on Andrew R. Heinze... including sources that came from other people. They were probably good once, but when I looked, they were dead. EastDimeBoxFrank (talk) 22:08, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Improvement of Andrew R. Heinze article sources.

Dear 115ash, Could we move our conversation about improving the Andrew R. Heinze sources to the article talkpage? That way I won't miss anything. I just found out that would be a helpful thing for me to do. EastDimeBoxFrank (talk) 23:04, 20 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I just wanted to say a quick hello and to tell you that I'm moving ahead and learning a lot from some wonderful Wiki editors. DimeBoxFrank (talk) 07:18, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you have any problem, don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck! --115ash→(☏) 13:57, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Need advice about uploaded photo

Hello, 115ash,

I need help in getting a photo I have already uploaded into Wikipedia Commons to show up on a Wikipedia page.

The page is for Leif Erland Andersson, planetary astronomer. It may be only because I have not yet been registered for ten days.

Thanks, Antynome112233 (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Antynome112233, as Ip 62.107.222.74 said, you forgot ".jpg" and "File". However, it wasn't enough. That article contains a lot of mistakes, and it must include the infobox. --115ash→(☏) 09:14, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the Welcome

I have been here 8 years, but no one has ever seemed this friendly. I often wondered if I was editing things correctly. I am trying to edit Parviz Gharib-Afshar, and I am noticing that a lot of the links on his page are expired. Should they be removed? I am not finding better sources of information to link. Sepideh (talk) 10:04, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That article has been nominated for deletion. --115ash→(☏) 14:26, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 115ash

Thanks for the welcome !- I set up a complete new page about the story of a church ( all facts) and have been deleted for advertising, I have enquired of the person that deleted the page so I can review and correct, bit harsh as this is my very first go at Wiki and I cant see how the history of Church is advertising ! but perhaps this is the process to go through to learn how it all works but thanks to you for the welcome! Leonardo da Vinci

Yeah, that works. I have. Been away for a couple of months, in the process of organising a remove to the other side of the planet. My library is at present somewhere on the high seas. I approach Wikipedia with a sense of trepidation after an absence. Leonardo da Vinci is a particular target. It is always good to return and find articles not simply intact but genuinely improved. Need Help

Hi Ash

Can you help me regarding the article that I created. It says it requires notability. Can you explain and help me to make it more informative and pass general guidelines.

Thank You.

--talibong (talk) 10:34, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @talibong. I just edited that article, which seems to be written as an advertisement. Someone can even nominate it for deletion. Try to find and add some reliable sources. --115ash→(☏)

Hi Ash

Thanks for the help. I will rewrite this one.

Regards --talibong (talk) 13:25, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ash I have updated the ikoala page by adding more infos and business model. Can you have a look on it. Thanks

Discussion at Talk:Asian American#Radical infobox changes

You are invited to join the discussion at Talk:Asian American#Radical infobox changes. Thanks. RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 19:33, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Template:Z48[reply]

Please stop making bold changes to the lead section, and the infobox of the article Asian Americans, there is no consensus for the bold changes made in the infobox. The lead is based on a long standing consensus, and the population figures of those defined as Asian Americans. Mentions of the ethnicities that you have repeatedly tried to include in the infobox are in the sub-article Demographics of Asian Americans.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 00:11, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here User:RightCowLeftCoast asked me for assistance regarding what he described as "a potentially disruptive editor", speaking of your edits which are the topic of this talk page section. I have not looked at the edits themselves, but I do see (UTC times)
  • 15:25, October 20, 2014‎: last of a series of five unexplained edits to the article by you
  • 06:12, October 23, 2014: a revert by RightCowLeftCoast, saying "reverted bold edits per WP:BRD; no consensus to radically alter lead or infobox, lead and infobox represent all significant/largest population Asian American populations; edits had given undue weight to South Asian Americans"
  • 08:36, October 23, 2014‎: last of a series of three edits by you with individual explanatory summaries
  • 19:25, October 24, 2014‎ reversion by RightCowLeftCoast, saying "reverted bold change, no consensus on talk page, see consensus built here Talk:Asian American/Archive 7#Infobox ethnicity representatives)
  • 19:31, October 24, 2014: creation of a talk page section by RightCowLeftCoast, at Talk:Asian American#Radical infobox changes with initial content explaining his objections to your edits and asking that you discusss the matter there and not begin an edit war
  • 19:33, October 24, 2014: an invitation here (above) by RightCowLeftCoast for you to join a discussion at Talk:Asian American#Radical infobox changes
  • 11:26, November 3, 2014: last of a series of three edits by you (two explained, one not)
  • 00:08, November 4, 2014‎: revertion by RightCowLeftCoast, saying "reverted bold change, no consensus on talk page, see consensus built here Talk:Asian American/Archive 7#Infobox ethnicity representatives"
  • 00:21, November 4, 2014: Request for assistance on my talk page RightCowLeftCoast
I have fumbled around a bit putting that timeline together, but I think I have it right. Please discuss this at Talk:Asian American#Radical infobox changes to build a consensus for your desired changes.
Please note, without accusing anyone of amything, I ask that both editors involved here review Wikipedia:Tendentious editing#Characteristics of problem editors. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 04:02, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Bingo! Nice summary and one worth gazing in a figurative "objectivity" mirror! At any given time we can all plunge fromr objectivity, a fact based world, into passion or special pleading. It is to be feared! Palmeira (talk) 04:21, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop making changes against consensus on the article Asian American, without first achieving consensus on the talk page, as has been done here. Please don't make false accusations against me, as was done on my talk page, same can be said about editor 115ash's actions on the article Asian Americans, and it helps neither editor in making these accusations, and does not help improve the article Asian Americans.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 17:17, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As mentioned in the summary above, in the edit summaries and in the talk page discussion, the images were a result of a thorough discussion and process to appropriately illustrate the article per WP:NPOV. If you wish to change the images, you will need more than your personal desires. It has been a while since the original consensus was reached and consensus can change but to demonstrate that it has, you would need to initiate a widespread discussion and actually show a new consensus which has not happened. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:21, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks and Question

Hi there!

I created a page for architect/scholar A. Lawrence Kocher and it's now pending review. Is there any way I could get someone to check it out while I'm waiting, so I can continue to improve and edit the page?

Thanks so much! Lufiona14 (talk) 15:39, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Lufiona14. That article is good enough and it has been created. Now you can start to ameliorate it. 115ash→(☏) 11:19, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Byron Scott (musician)

Hello 115ash,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Byron Scott (musician) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. --I am Kethrus Talk to me! 16:23, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
