FYI

A task has been added to your Cleanup Taskforce desk. -- Beland 20:28, 10 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

Blue: Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. I am honoured that you and others think highly enough of my contributions here to support the nomination. The admin powers will enable me to patrol for vandals more effectively, amongst other things. I promise to use my new powers for good, and not to inflict the retribution on my enemies that they so richly deserve, as tempting as that may be. ;-) Thanks again, Kevin. Bringing Wikipedia to Toronto

I've been working on a bid to bring Wikimania 2006 to Toronto. I have contacted KMDI, an institute at the University of Toronto. They are very interested in partnering with us, and can get us a full range of U of T facilities for free. With this offer I think there is a very good chance of bringing Wikimania 2006 to Toronto. The only thing we currently lack are people willing to help out. I'm willing to do much of the work, but for the time being I am in Ottawa and having some people on the ground in Toronto will be necessary. We also need a number of people willing to assist at the actual event, likely the first weekend of August 2006. If you are interested in helping out sign up at Wikimania 2006/Toronto. Preliminary bids from various cities need to be made by Sept. 30, 2005, at which point a committee will choose which city gets to host the event. The number of people willing to help will certainly be an important consideration. - SimonP 16:24, September 6, 2005 (UTC)

Welcome to the Wikimania Toronto team

Glad to see more support for our bid! -- user:zanimum

Middle school renomination

Wikimania meeting tomorrow

Hello, and thanks for signing up at Wikimania_2006/Toronto. It has been announced that there will be a half hour meeting on the Wikimania IRC channel tomorrow October 2, at 20:00 UST (4:00 pm EST) to pick the 3 city shortlist. It would be great if you could attend. Also these are our last hours to ensure that our bid at Wikimania_2006/Toronto is as good as it can be, so any improvements to it would also be useful. There are now four cities in the running, so tomorrow one is getting cut. - SimonP 20:49, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Taskforce

There is a question on your cleanup taskforce desk about whether you are currently active in the taskforce, and also 3 articles for cleanup. I know you're busy. Would you like someone else to work on the articles until you return? RJFJR 10:10, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Electoral Districts

I would like to invite you to participate in Wikipedia:WikiProject Electoral districts in Canada. It is just getting started so please read through the proposal, familiarize yourself with the options/examples and then participate in the debate about how the pages should best be laid out. --maclean25 00:35, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nahnebahwequa

Hi Double Blue, just a polite reminder of your offer to fix up this article on Nahnebahwequa if it was kept.... Fawcett5 17:26, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for your kind words and your welcome! I also thank you for telling me about the PBS special regarding the movement of Moai. I have been a long time user of Wikipedia and am very interested in contributing to this valuable project. Also nice to see a fellow Canadian (I am in Australia at the moment). I will read up on my rights and responsibilities over the next few days. There are many things I would like to add or help in editing.

Cheers! Edgar Kavangh

ToDo: Regional Municipality moves

Hey, I saw your ToDo page, along with its list of Moves. I'm somewhat interested in the topic myself. The official name of most, if not all, regions is indeed the Regional Municipality of <area>. I do not know why the articles were originally named in the <area> Regional Municipality, Ontario fashion, but it caught on, I suppose.

I would totally support a mass move of the pages to where they belong, and would help with the redirection efforts. While I do not believe that naming the articles just Regional Municipality of <area> would conflict with any other areas, I think that it'll be courteous and informative to add the Ontario at the end.

I am rather new to Wikipedia and I've no clue if there are any procedures necessary before initiating such an uprooting of articles (community discussion? Request for <...>?), but once the decision is done, I'm ready to help with the moving and link-fixing.

Oh, and thanks for voting keep on the Ontario provincial highway 140 article back in the day :) --Qviri 06:05, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for an honest opinion

I'm working on the article motorized bicycle. I created a timeline. It is nominated for deletions. I was wondering if you could give me your opinion of the subject either at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Timeline of Motorized bicycle history or on my user talk page. Thank you. (p.s.: love the some of your categories, I stole you idea and put some on my user page.) --CyclePat 01:46, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Canada

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whipper Billy Watson

Thanks for the note. I remember meeting Watson when I was very young - maybe six - and shaking his hand. I sort of miss the old days when wrestling was more wrestling and less fakery than it is today. He was a good guy. Denni 00:51, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

South Gwillimbury

Well, since you had info about the Georgina - North Gwillimbury merger, I figured I'd ask this: do you know about South Gwillimbury Township? I've seen it referenced to Simcoe County, but the only websites I find containing it are genealogy sites. Mindmatrix 19:17, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It may be that someone just plain got it wrong when creating the archive. I dunno - here's one explicit example (see #15, #16); here's one that's confusing, though it appears to say Simcoe South, Gwillimbury West, so it should probably be discounted; and another one that does the same thing. That leaves the first reference as the only one that mentions South Gwillimbury Township. I searched the Archives Ontario website, but found nothing. I suspect you're right, the place never existed. It just seems odd that they created East, West and North Gwillimbury Townships, but not South. Mindmatrix 00:01, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, fellow CFL fan!

Thanks for the welcome! That was a pretty good game last week (B.C. Lions v. the Argos)...the Argo's really made a game of it in the 2nd half, and Ricky got some good yardage (3rd in the CFL in rushing heading into the 5th week)! Sundevilesq 03:57, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Appleby College?

Hey there; I wonder if you are an alum or community member of Appleby College in Oakville, Ontario. "Double Blue" is the school's colour scheme. I am an alumnus myself. Shagmaestro 01:17, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reynolds School

It was unsourced and seemed to fail the notability criteria - I normally leave schools (I rarely use AfD), but I've seen a couple speedied so I followed suit. I'll leave in future. jimfbleak 19:51, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
