== Request for clarification: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia 2 ==

Since you are involved in the discussion concerning the removal of ''Proposal G'', I am informing you of the request for clarification I have put forth [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Clarification#Request_for_clarification:_Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration.2FMacedonia_2_2]. I am only doing this because I believe that the greater community should have a chance of seeing and evaluating the proposal by itself. I highly regard all of the effort that you have put in this discussion, so far, and wish to thank you for it. --[[User:Radjenef|Radjenef]] ([[User talk:Radjenef|talk]]) 17:40, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Revision as of 17:40, 26 June 2009

My wheel-warring policy:
Admins: If you see me make a logged action that you think I should not have done, I will not consider it wheel-warring if you undo it without asking for my permission. However, if I marked the action as being done after running a checkuser query, or as part of a sockpuppet investigation, you should ask me or another checkuser before undoing it. In any case, if you do revert one of my actions, I would appreciate it if you tell me that you did so. Thanks!

I've posted an article yesterday about Paul Roche The man died in 2007 and was a very important Poet and writer, translated classic Greek tragedies that had never been before. Not to mention that he was part of one of the most important art group in England in the 20th century. He's a published author and still after his death has lot of followers and fans. Yesterday I tried to replace an article and it is just unfair that it was deleted. Paul Roche (the writer poet) is mentioned as a reference in several articles on Wikipedia but the results of that research is Paul Roche, young sportsman from Ireland with a text as small as his success and importance in the world.

This isn't great and makes the content on several articles irrelevant( Like the one about Duncan Grant). Also it is morally important to bring up the most important information first in an encyclopedia. If my cat was called Barrack Obama and had killed 50 mice I wonder if it would be great to have "Barrack hussein Obama president of the United States of America since 2009" as research keywords because my puss would be taking the space. Well it's a about the same thing Between Paul Roche, an amazing Poet, an acclaimed published writer who wrote a movie script "Oedipus the King" where Orson Welles played and an unknown young man from deep deep Ireland who won a few competition at an obscure sport in his local villages. I don't think the one that comes up first should be the sportsman. Also the content of his article is very poor like his career that still really hasn't taken off. I think Wikipedia should be culture orientated and not become a blogging platform for anyone who fancy's himself as part of an encyclopedia. Even if I might post this article in several blogs :)

Also, as an answer to your comment I wanted to say that the author of this article gave me full rights to publish her text. She actually wrote it for the telegraph not the opposite. She's a writer herself. There's no right violation and I can prove it.

My questions are. How do I make sure that this article won't be deleted after 5 minutes again and could we ask the sportsman to add "Paul Roche Hurling player" ? since his tiny career in hurling is not very important compared to the other Paul Roche's achievements over 91 years and that the nice article I'm trying to post might be important for lot of students in literature and classics. Also everytime someone will mention the important Paul Roche (people are unlikely to write in an article Paul Donald Roche (poet)) on Wikipedia he will find that unimportant person instead. It will be a bad thing for culture I think. I won't let go about this one, it just doesn't make any sense.

Thanks for reverting the the vandalism on my userpage

Thank you for reverting my userpage, I keep getting attacked by people who's vandalism edits I've reverted... -- RandorXeus. 18:11, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Policy versus practice

I said it was bad form to remove comments, not a policy violation. Removing comments is generally discouraged. 173.66.36.76 (talk) 19:26, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3RR

The anon IP has reported me to the 3RR noticeboard. I do not feel any compunction to reply as I was reverting what I define as vandalism. If posting a reply would serve me better I will do so. What's your advice? Thanks Tiderolls 19:49, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. You did technically violate 3RR. I won't personally block you, but I cannot say what the result of this will be. All I will say now is, unless you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that something is vandalism, do not revert the fourth time! If it really is vandalism, someone else will revert it. J.delanoygabsadds 19:51, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I technically violate 3RR three or four times a day. I know that my reversions are open to scrutiny and that does not intimidate me. I will, of course, accept the outcome whatever form it takes. Point taken about "absolutely certain"...I've heard that one before. Thanks for your time. Tiderolls 19:55, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Fat Man

His story about vandalism reversion on Shirley Phelps-Roper checks out, and it's an alternate account of User:The Fat Man Who Never Came Back, who's a user in good standing. Any objection to my unblocking? Sarcasticidealist (talk) 02:43, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've gone ahead and done so; good on you. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 02:46, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Again

Dear J.Delanoy, you said you would do something about the situation in Wikipedia talk:Centralized discussion/Macedonia. The demeaning and intimidating attitude of ChrisO is as alive as always. His arrogance and offensive attitude are clearly a matter where you as a ref should step in. Please do something or just plainly state that I am wrong and his attitude is civil and according to Wiki policy. Thx GK1973 (talk) 11:48, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just got on, checking over pages. J.delanoygabsadds 16:12, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you're going to have to be more specific. J.delanoygabsadds 18:42, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
[1], [2], [3], [4] (I am not really sure about that, maybe it would be more proper to have notified an admin first?), [5], [6], [7], [8].
So..are profiling, characterizing editors hardcore nationalists, removing edits one does not like, urging editors to leave the discussion (actually this situation is the sole reason why my involvement lessened, a great victory of his I suppose...), calling for bans etc the way we should debate here? GK1973 (talk) 12:26, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, J.Delanoy, I was actually going to write to you about this myself. I would like you to remove all references to my alleged nationality by users BalkanFever and ChrisO. That would be the entire thread of comments that was initiated by [9] and would definitely include [10], [11] and [12]. I am also asking that oversight be used to permanently delete the edits, as I consider my nationality to be a matter of personal privacy. Further to that, I am requesting that you address BalkanFever's and ChrisO's incivility ([13], [14]). Editors who do not support their POV have been blocked or banned for much less; allowing them to insult people with impunity is beginning to give the impression of two weights and two measures in conduct policy enforcement. Finally, I am now formally accusing ChrisO of attempted outing, in light of his most recent posting of off-wiki stuff in an attempt to speculate on my real-life identity and ethnicity. Please advise as to what further steps should be taken. --Radjenef (talk) 16:01, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you understand how the oversight tool works. Oversighting those edits would be impossible. Well, not impossible, but it would require that every single edit made to that page after the one in question also be oversighted, which is simply not going to happen. Also, while I do not think anything was gained by saying what he did, ChrisO did not out you. Anyone looking at your editing patterns and comments would come to the conclusion that you are Greek, or at the very least, that you are very sympathetic to the Greek side of this issue.
If you still think that ChrisO's comments relating to that are an issue, you should probably talk to him. Which, incidentally, is what both of you should have done in the first place. Why is it that anyone in a dispute immediately comes running to me (or whoever has "power") instead of just talking to the individual that you have a problem with. I don't get why that concept is so difficult to grasp. If you cannot get a satisfactory conclusion after talking to him, post to WP:ANI.
As far as the diffs you and GK1973 gave, once again, talk to the people you have a problem with, and ask them to tone it down. After I finish my current project, I will make a post to the main discussion page about decorum.
And finally, with regard to Radjenef's implied accusation that I am playing with two standards here, ("Editors who do not support their POV have been blocked or banned for much less.") please give me ONE example where I have been impartial. As far as I know, there have been only two people blocked and/or banned as a result of their edits to the discussion pages. One was wiki-lawyering to evade a topic ban imposed on him by the Arbitration Committee. The other was a sockpuppet of someone Future Perfect at Sunrise apparently disagreed with in the past, and was only contributing in order to harass him. In any case, the sock's response to my ban notification clearly shows what his intentions were. Are you seriously suggesting that what ChrisO and BalkanFever have said is comparable to sockpuppetry and overt evasion of an ArbCom-imposed ban? J.delanoygabsadds 17:05, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't referring to you, J.delanoy, I apologise if it sounded that way. I was referring to the way things were handled prior to the commencement of the generalized discussion. It goes without saying that we are all thankful for all the time and effort you (and the other referees) have put into overseeing the discussion. --Radjenef (talk) 17:19, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As far as speculations concerning my nationality go... I understand why someone might deduce, after checking my editing patterns, that I am sympathetic to the Greek side of this issue (even though my views are always backed up by a policy rationale). But to speculate on nationality is a different thing, especially when people allege to track my off-wiki actions. Looking at people's editing patterns I could easily deduce that Future Perfect, ChrisO, Taivo and many others are sympathetic to the Republic's side of this issue. That wouldn't give me the right to claim that they have some connection to the Republic. These people have been asking that Greeks be excluded from the discussion because of bias. Now, I guess, they're asking the same thing, not for Greeks, but for people they deduce to be Greek? This is the ugly slippery slope I was referring to during arbitration: "Anyone who disagrees with us must be Greek, so they should be excluded from the discussion". I guess I'll go post at ANI if worse comes to worse. --Radjenef (talk) 17:57, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No one, I repeat, no one is going to be banned/blocked for anything other than their own actions. Full stop. J.delanoygabsadds 18:38, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have clearly stated to him on many occasions that I find his attitude demeaning and offensive. He never denied it, he just pushed on. What else should I do? Writing here was not my first attempt to oppose his "style" of writing. GK1973 (talk) 07:03, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like this article, which you deleted, appears to have been a valid article - I assume it had been vandalised. snigbrook (talk) 17:54, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

heh, oops. J.delanoygabsadds 17:56, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, really is there, though you have to wonder why they called it that. Perhaps the Pike County commissioners could rename it...Any wonder that this attracts more vandalism (although still not much) than virtually any other Ohio township article? Nyttend (talk) 03:35, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding User:Spis Ikke Gul Snø

Hey J.delanoy, s'been a while.

I've recently been on a break here for the past month due to exams, and I recall earlier this month having User:Spis Ikke Gul Snø leave a message on my talk page regarding User:Future Perfect at Sunrise. I just read of the indefinite ban you've placed on him, and I can't comment on the justification of that, but I'd just like to point you to the thread he left on my talk page in case you can draw any conclusions from it. The thread can be found here. Cheers, hope you're well. Regards, --—Cyclonenim | Chat  18:14, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

J., you might want to check that ban again cause it isn't showing up on the block log. Also, he was previously in discussion with Acroterion here about User:Future Perfect at Sunrise. - NeutralHomerTalk • 18:52, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's clear he's been on Fut. Perf's back for a while... -- ChrisO (talk) 19:07, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't ban him from the site entirely, so blocking him to enforce the ban is unnecessary. J.delanoygabsadds 19:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, J.D. Could you please take a look at this? (sroll up for more history) We've got three admins (at least) saying "Salt and block", but no apparent followup. I had an e-mail conversation with DGG about it yesterday; he was hesitant to do the actual salt & block since he had issued an opinion. Said he'd ping another admin, but he seems to be out today. please give us a break on the editing it was funny right? :) we wont vandalize any more although you might find others that we vandalized earlier. we are sorrey but there is nothing we can do about the ones we already vandalized from: the people who vandalized chubby cox, stay out of my life, mark wood, and the adventures of tom sawyer. :(

First off, vandalism is not funny. It damages the hard work of other editors, and is some cases it is defamatory. Second, the vandalism to the other articles you vandalized has been removed...
Contributing constructively is better than vandalism... It helps the encyclopedia, it obviously doesn't result in punishment, and you can do it all you want :) Until It Sleeps Wake me 19:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shame on your for deleting the Crabcore article

I was disappointed to see this article get deleted, thanks to some hokey made-up policies and pseudo-technical jargon. This is why we can't have nice things. NIRVANA2764 (talk) 05:46, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

YES! That was very upsetting - I don't see why the article was deleted. Crabcore was even recently referenced in an article in The Guardian, a large UK newspaper. Why did you vandalize the page?76.112.235.92 (talk) 11:51, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I read that long ago. My favourite part is this : Policy does not prohibit users, including both registered and anonymous users, from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred... Repeatedly restoring warnings does nothing but antagonize users, and can encourage further disruption; removal of template warnings is rarely an urgent or important matter, and it is often best to simply let the matter rest if other disruption stops. 173.79.58.33 (talk) 18:31, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comments yes, ISP headers no. You know this, and yet you have done it multiple times over the last few months. J.delanoygabsadds 18:34, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Comments, isp headers, newsletters, wikilove, & any other thing posted that I dont want. Why? Bc it is my page.
There is no need for my ISP to be shown. This is not a shared ip. If you all will run the checks you claim you will do you will see this.
And the archives show all info it isnt neccessary for it to be posted.173.79.58.33 (talk) 18:38, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A Request

User:ChildofMidnight has started a thread, which I believe is nothing but him looking for an arguement with anyone and everyone. I boldly closed it and archived it (with the archive top and bottom templates) and was reverted by CoM. Would you mind taking a look at the thread and see if it needs to be closed. If any admin closes it, CoM is less likely to revert. If you wish not to get in the middle of this mess, I will completely understand. - NeutralHomerTalk • 02:48, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Crabcore is a real genre, Respect!

I disagree with your decision to delete the article on Crabcore as it was somewhat informative and provided good examples. Its stub-like articles like these that help people learn about the new emerging trends in music and the media. I remember this same thing happened back with Hollywood Undead, mods deleted their page claiming that they were not a real band even though they had an EP out and stated one of the reasons why as being "joke band in a joke genre". I think it would be unwise to make a similar mistake, please reconsider un-deleting the crabcore article.

This looks very much like a sleeper sockpuppet account, probably of one of the many editors blocked for disruption in this topic area, possibly one of those sanctioned by the ArbCom. A checkuser probably wouldn't be inappropriate (though I know you can't do that yourself, of course). -- ChrisO (talk) 16:13, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I asked a CU, and they said that there is no evidence of socking, although they did agree that it is clearly an SPA. J.delanoygabsadds 16:28, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for the clarification. -- ChrisO (talk) 17:17, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You do know that he has reported you to AIV. I don't belive him, but you may want to straighten it out. Abce2|Free LemonadeOnly 25 cents! 16:44, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I saw, thatnks. I believe that I have the authority to do what I did, but if he wants to pursue it, he is of course welcome to do so. J.delanoygabsadds 16:46, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request for clarification: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Macedonia 2

Since you are involved in the discussion concerning the removal of Proposal G, I am informing you of the request for clarification I have put forth [17]. I am only doing this because I believe that the greater community should have a chance of seeing and evaluating the proposal by itself. I highly regard all of the effort that you have put in this discussion, so far, and wish to thank you for it. --Radjenef (talk) 17:40, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
