A barnstar for you!

The Technical Barnstar
Thank you very much for User:Snotbot/Current AfD's. I'll be using it for sure.  Ryan Vesey 23:06, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per your decline at WP:RPP (which reassured me that I haven't gotten too easy at AfC :-)), would you mind unsalting the page so it can be moved? I don't know who originally salted it, since the page history is only for the latest version. All the best, Miniapolis (talk) 17:58, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Do a Snotbot run

I was wondering if Snotbot (great name) task #5 could be run on this and this. Bgwhite (talk) 19:05, 28 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, can do. ‑Scottywong| babble _ 00:45, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Running now. Once you see the bot activity stop, feel free to mark those categories as done. ‑Scottywong| yak _ 00:50, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Working on a new tool

If you're interested, you can see an early version here. It allows you to perform arbitrary searches through the recent changes database. So, it helps with looking for particular types of edits that were recently made. Might be useful for vandal fighters. I still have some work to do on it, but it's working. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. I'll announce it more widely once it's more complete. ‑Scottywong| spill the beans _ 00:47, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

Scottywong, I've blocked you for 24 hours. I appreciate you probably feel provoked, but this does not justify your comments. Ironholds (talk) 22:25, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Now that's a unique outcome. Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree that what I said is a blockable offense, I just wonder why when a different editor says the exact same phrase and someone complains, the complainant gets told to shut the fuck up and do something useful, and stop trying to be the civility police. Was I using the phrase in a different context? I'm not looking for an unblock, I'm just looking for a formal acknowledgement that there is a double standard. For more info, see Wikipedia:ANI#Malleus_Fatuorum_and_Cornellier this ANI thread and this AN thread. I'd appreciate a response. ‑Scottywong| verbalize _ 22:36, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'd imagine because it's a different admin who handled that dispute. I'd agree there's a total double standard here; all I can guarantee is that I don't have such a double standard. I've blocked admins and editors for incivility (normally I block the admins for longer, because they should know their way around policy if they've taken upon themselves the role of enforcing it), I've blocked users with GAs and very few content contributions at all. I probably can't jump into either of those threads and make anything stick, but mark my words: if you or anyone else see someone acting as Malleus seems to have done, drop me a line and I'm happy to block them. Ironholds (talk) 22:39, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't have a double standard, then I would ask you to take a look at the situation with Malleus, and take any action that you would deem necessary. ‑Scottywong| babble _ 22:48, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
