Please use the rationale parameter to explain why this user talk page should be deleted. (E.g., {{db-u1|rationale= }}.) Thanks!

Per the User page guidelines, user talk pages are generally not deleted, barring legal threats or other grievous violations that have to be removed for legal reasons. In addition, nonpublic personal information and potentially libellous information posted to your talk page may be removed by making a request for oversight.

Users who have left Wikipedia may be added to Wikipedia:Missing Wikipedians.

Uh yeah... sure...

Mediation Request

Hi there, I noticed your request for informal mediation at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-04-20 Heckmondwike Grammar School. The excessive vandalism you're reporting, however, is not so much as case for mediation (as that is more to solve content disputes), but perhaps would be relevant to Requests for Page Protection. School pages often encounter vandalism similar to the that at Heckmondwike Grammar School by anonymous users from what I've seen (this is my view at least), so you may want to look into Semi Protection. Cowman109Talk 18:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems Will (E@) T has referred your case over to WP:RFP. Cowman109Talk 19:20, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By looking up the IP addresses of those who vandalized the wiki of Heckmondwike Grammar School, it seems the majority of the edits come from one ip: 195.172.220.162. A DNS lookup here shows that this IP is actually the school itself, implying that the vandalism is actually arising from students from within the school. Informing your school administrators of this would probably be the best bet and perhaps they could check who was using these computers at the time of the vandalism if there was some sort of sign-up sheet for security. If not, I guess the only thing you know is that the vandalism mainly comes from within the school itself. Cowman109Talk 20:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, it seems those in the request for protection page feel that the vandalism is not frequent enough to have semi-protection put in place (see WP:RFP). The only logical option I could think of to solve the vandalism issue would be to have the school increase security on its computers. Cowman109Talk 20:49, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a copy of the discussion for your reference:

I'm not sure what you need here. There was one edit a day ago; does this really need protecting? · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 20:31, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
While I wasn't directly involved in this, through some lookup of the edit history, it seems the majority of the vandalism is coming from 195.172.220.162. It seems like this would be a better candidate for Administrator Intervention against Vandalism. However, an IP trace shows this IP is actually the IP of the Grammar School, meaning it is simply an issue of its own students vandalizing from school computers. Cowman109Talk 20:41, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Does seem that way -- but unless there's active vandalizing going on, we can't semiprotect. Can't really block someone, either -- and one edit a day ago just isn't enough. If they become active again, then list it on AIV. · Katefan0(scribble)/poll 20:48, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it was well written and grammatically correct. However, an entire paragraph isn't really needed for the problems of just 1 game. The fact that it was unsourced didn't help either. TJ Spyke 09:09, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mentioning some glitches in a sentence or two might be fine, I just don't see the point in mentioning every single difference. TJ Spyke 09:12, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Bon Jovi- Any Other Day.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bon Jovi- Any Other Day.ogg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Thanks for uploading File:Bon Jovi- Bed Of Roses.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Orphaned non-free media (File:Bon Jovi- Livin' On A Prayer.ogg)

Thanks for uploading File:Bon Jovi- Livin' On A Prayer.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
