Revision as of 08:21, 4 May 2013

This is the place to nominate someone for Editor of the Week recognition: an unsung hero who has been doing great work for months but is not well-known. Create a new section at the bottom of the page for each user you'd like to nominate along with a 100-200 word description of how you think they meet the criteria for Editor of the Week. Please be as specific as you can in describing the tasks and behaviours you feel are worth recognizing, as recipients appreciating hearing it! Use the {{userlinks|put username without "User:" here}} template for the first use of the user's name in the nomination. Please do not link to the nominee's user or talk page. The new notification system will inform them which will, of course ruin the surprise.

Sample nomination text:

I nominate Easter Bunny (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) for his persistent efforts in tidying up articles. Often editors will hurriedly introduce new information to an article, without placing a full citation, or with spelling and grammatical errors. Over the past four months, Easter Bunny has been fixing the edits of others, doing the tedious work of completing the citation information, copy editing the prose to resolve errors and to align it with Wikipedia's Manual of Style, and fixing links to other articles. Here are some examples: [1] [2] In addition, Easter Bunny has a great positive attitude in discussions with other editors: he always finds the most promising aspects of the comments of others, and follows up on them in trying to build a genuine consensus. Without willing editors to perform cleanup tasks, Wikipedia could not sustain its level of participation from one-time editors who just want to get in and out with their edits as soon as possible. Easter Bunny is a great example of a Wikipedia editor who improves the community through his excellent work! isaacl (talk) 03:58, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:GregorB

I nominate GregorB (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) as Editor of the Week for his tireless contributions to articles, templates and performance of tasks often considered too tedious to pick up by any other editor, including fixing citations, assessing a wide range of articles and contributing a lion's share (if not virtually all) of maintenance work on the WikiProject Croatia pages. As a result, he is one of the most prolific editors of the English Wikipedia, currently well within top 200 most active editors on wiki with more than 132,000 edits since he started editing eight years ago! His other contributions include 21 successful Did you know? nominations and a Featured list of Croatian submissions for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He is always ready to give advice or lend a hand when asked, and regularly plays a constructive role in any discussion - a true team player!--Tomobe03 (talk) 20:19, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:Chiswick Chap

I nominate Chiswick Chap (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) as Editor of the Week for his outstanding contributions to the encyclopedia. I ran a training session at the weekend and wanted an example of the improvements that can be made to the encyclopedia. I found a great example at Sea. Two weeks ago, the Sea article looked like this, then Chiswick Chap had a go at it. He added nearly 80k of excellent prose to the article, building a structure and making it interesting. This isn't the first time he's done this either, the amount of quality contributions he's made put most of us to shame and I feel that they really need to be recognised.
