Dub vs. Sub

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask, but I was wondering if someone would make userboxes for people who prefer watching subtitled anime and for those who prefer dubbed anime, if they don't exist already. I made a userbox to link to My Anime profile at Anime News Network, and I formatted it so you can put your ANN username in and it will link there. The text you add looks like this: {{User:Leebo/Userboxes/ANN|YOUR ANN USERNAME}}. If you don't put your username in, it will look like this:

And with my username in it:

The current userbox for samurai champloo (this user wants to take all you bitches on) is phrased incorrectly. Mugen's comment is "I'll take all you bitches on", therefore "wants to" is wrong. I've been meaning to add a Userbox for Ideon and this is what I put together:

I attempted a very lame Ide Gauge but it wouldn't show up when sized down. The image itself is [here].

The problem you are facing should be simple, the lines are too narrow and when sized down, they became less than 1 pixel, thus not showing up in the user box. An easy way to counter this problem is to make a smaller sized one(So it does not have to be sized down.) MythSearcher^talk 18:16, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, it is extremely easy to create, so I have created one and should be the size for user boxes. If you are interested in the series, add it to the main article, too, or it will be deleted later since it is really not contributing much to the encyclopedia part. Network userboxes

Hello all, I've created a couple of userboxes for networks on which anime airs. The pickings are rather slim at the moment – only Adult Swim and Sci Fi Channel's Ani-Monday and Anime on Tuesday; however, anyone else is welcome to update the templates in question (particularly when it comes to colors) and create new ones. The templates are shown below:

It could also be better is you made "User:Dinoguy1000/UBX/Watches adult swim anime" userbox modifiable. For example, say the original is "{{Anime Userbox}}". Users may add Adult Swim like this, "{{Anime Userbox|Adult Swim}}" to get "This user watches anime on [Adult Swim]" message or add Ani-Monday like this, "{{Anime Userbox|Ani-Monday}}" to get "This user watches anime on Ani-Monday" etc. Just giving you suggestions.. --Sτaκa 21:23, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, the main problem with that is the colors and ID box... After you got parameters for controlling all of these things, you would end up with the need for "wrapper" templates so that whoever transcluded them wouldn't need to worry about all that stuff, and that would ultimately defeat the purpose of one template. In the end, it's actually simpler to have seperate templates for each network, and it also makes sense because the various anime and manga series also use their own individual templates. —Dinoguy1000 23:03, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

New section

Would anyone be opposed to giving Cardcaptor Sakura its own section? Right now there's only one userbox on the page for that series, but I've got five more that I was planning to add to the list. Before I did anything I was wondering if anyone would be bothered by creating a Cardcaptor Sakura section for them all instead of leaving all six userboxes in the "other anime" section.3loodlust (talk) 16:45, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

As far as I know (not that I'm claiming much), there aren't any rules stopping you from creating sections here where you see it necessary. If you should accidentally make a change you shouldn't have, someone else will undo it for you. —Dinoguy1000 17:47, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Just remember that series sections should be in alphabetical order. Main sections such as those ones above the Bleach section doesn't have to be in alphabetical, but in most important order..--staka 18:09, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

Networks and programming blocks section

Hey all, I direct your attention to the section Networks and programming blocks on the project page, which currently has three different userboxes (Bionix, Adult Swim, and Sci-Fi). I'd be quite grateful if someone could make userboxes for more networks (including IFC, Animax, and maybe some of the Japanese or other Asian networks), and also work on the color schemes for the boxes – it seems to me it would work best if each box's scheme matched the general feel of the network or programming block it's for, à la the Adult Swim userbox. —Dinoguy1000 18:19, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

While the userboxes say, for example with FujiTV, "This user usually watches anime on FujiTV", should it be changed to "This user usually watches anime broadcasted on FujiTV"? I doubt that a lot of people on English Wikipedia watch anime on television espicially when they are broadcasted in Japan. And manga?

Something I haven't been able to puzzle out is why this page's name doesn't include "manga" in some capacity. Obviously, the pages scope extends to manga (unless I'm missing something), and there isn't a similar Wikipedia:Userboxes/Manga page... Probably because most if not all the anime here was adopted from a manga, if you can think of examples of manga that have not been adapted into anime. If it is not a long list then a separate manga page really isn't necessary. There are 2 manga-only sections in the list, manga smileys and manga magazines. I wasn't actually suggesting that we start a seperate manga-only page, only pointing out that, as far as I could tell, there doesn't seem to be one. My actual suggestion was to rename this page to something that mentions both anime and manga (and while we're on the subject, what about manhwa, manhua, and OEL manga? I know a few. Most notable is AI Love You, Ken Akamatsu's first manga work. Ironically, it still hasn't been animated yet, while his other works have (i.e. Love Hina, Itsudatte My Santa!, and Negima). There is also a userbox for Fushigi Yūgi Genbu Kaiden, which hasn't been animated yet. Rename to include "manga"

As you may have seen above, back in March I started a discussion concerning the fact that this page's name only mentions anime. The discussion didn't really go anywhere, so at this time I'd like to resurrect it with the proposal of renaming this page to Wikipedia:Userboxes/Anime and manga, in order to reflect the page's actual scope, and to bring it in line with the names of the various WP:ANIME project pages.
