The 2021 Tunisian political crisis is an ongoing political crisis in Tunisia between the Tunisian Government and the Ennahda Movement. The crisis began on 25 July 2021, after the dismissal of the government and freezing of the parliament by the president Kais Saied. The decisions of the president were made in response to a series of protests against the Ennahda Movement, economic hardship and spike in Covid-19 cases in Tunisia.

The speaker of the Tunisian parliament and leader of the Ennahda Movement Rached Ghannouchi said the presidents actions were an assault on democracy and called on his supporters to take to the streets in opposition.

Protests have taken place in Tunisia both in favor of and in opposition to the presidents actions, while Tunisian Armed Forces have expressed their support for the presidents actions.[1][2][3]
