The men's tournament in volleyball at the 1992 Summer Olympics was the 8th edition of the event at the Summer Olympics, organized by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the IOC. It was held in Barcelona, Spain from 26 July to 9 August 1992.

* In the match Japan vs. United States, United States player Bob Samuelson should have received a second yellow card at 14-13 (match point Japan serving) for misconduct, the resulting red card penalty point thus ending the game. The referee, Ramis Smedov of Azerbaijan knowingly chose to ignore that incident, despite being clearly advised by the umpire (second referee) and the game continued. United States won the match 3–2 (15–8, 11–15, 10–15, 17–16, 16–14). The Japanese coach launched a protest immediately after the match ended. The following day a 25 man FIVB commission met for five hours to review the outcome. There were no American representatives and the 2 Japanese delegates abstained - the result was a unanimous 23-0 vote to award the match to Japan.
