Butchered at Birth is the second studio album by American death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It was released in 1991 through Metal Blade Records.

Sound

Butchered at Birth was the Cannibal Corpse album to establish their trademark, death metal style,[2] as many[who?] say that their first album, Eaten Back to Life, had more thrash elements to it.[3] Chris Barnes' vocals became noticeably lower, as this is the first time fans experienced his associated "inhuman" grunting.[citation needed] Barnes is often credited with the sound change, as the album's producer, label and where it was produced is the same as Eaten Back to Life.[citation needed]
