Ashar Rural District (Persian: دهستان آشار)[3] is in Ashar District of Mehrestan County, Sistan and Baluchestan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Ashar.

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 7,884 in 1,552 households, when it was a part of Sarbaz County.[4] There were 12,137 inhabitants in 2,727 households at the following census of 2011, by which time the district had been separated from the county to become a part of the newly established Zaboli County (renamed Mehrestan County).[5][6] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 10,130 in 2,443 households. The largest of its 33 villages was Ashar (now a city),[7] with 3,786 people.[2]
