Okada is a town located in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.[2] Situated in the southern part of the state, it serves as the administrative headquarters of the Ovia North-East Local Government Area.[3][4]

History

The town of Okada has a deep-rooted history that dates back centuries. It is inhabited by the Edo people, who are known for their advanced bronze casting and artistic skills.[5]

The town was home to a population of 78,000 individuals as recorded in 2011.[1]

Education

Okada is home to Igbinedion University. The university, founded by Sir Gabriel Igbinedion, has played a significant role in providing quality higher education to students not only from Nigeria but also from across Africa and beyond.[6]

Transportation

Okada is well-connected in terms of transportation. The town is situated along the major Benin-Lagos Highway, facilitating easy movement of people and goods. The road network within the town is also well-maintained, allowing for efficient intra-town travel.
