On 13 June 2015, the Faroe Islands played Greece in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match at Tórsvøllur, Tórshavn. They won 2–1, in what was their second victory over Greece in the qualifying campaign.[1] The game is considered by many Greeks to be one of their most humiliating defeats in international football, while many Faroese people consider the match to be one of their greatest upsets.
Background
The two teams played in 14 November 2014, with the Faroes winning 1–0 in Piraeus.
Before the return fixture, the Faroes suffered an away defeat to Romania, while Greece got a goalless away draw against Hungary.

Aftermath
Greece national team coach Sergio Markarián resigned in the following month, having lasted only two matches in charge.[2]
This were the last points in the Faroese campaign. Greece got an away draw with Romania in September and finally won its first match in the last matchday, beating Hungary 4–3 at home, but it wasn't enough to avoid the bottom place. Both teams finished with six points, with the Faroes having the advantage on head-to-head record.
