"Sailaway" is a song by the American R&B band Earth, Wind & Fire, written by Philip Bailey[1], Eduardo del Barrio, Maurice White and Roxanne Seeman.[2] It was recorded during the Faces sessions in 1980 and appears on the Faces album.[3][4][5] "Sailaway" was included in the Earth, Wind & Fire compilation album The Love Songs, released in 1991 in Europe, UK, Germany and Brazil. In June 1999, Philip Bailey featured a jazz version of "Sailaway" under the title "Sail Away" on his Dreams album.[6][7][8][9]

"Sailaway" was released on a vinyl, 12', radio promo disc with four songs by ARC and Columbia Records.[10]

Production

Earth, Wind and Fire's "Sailaway" was arranged by Erich Bulling (Horns, Strings), recorded and mixed by George Massenburg and Ken Fowler, and mastered by Michael Reese.[11] It was released by ARC and Columbia Records. The recording includes a trombone solo performed by Louis Satterfield.[11]

Other versions

Philip Bailey's "Sail Away" was produced by Erik Huber and released on Philip Bailey's Dreams album by Heads Up International Records.

Composition

This song is a waltz in ¾ time and recorded in the key of G Major.
