Salpingoophorectomy
ICD-9-CM65.4, 65.6

In medicine, salpingoophorectomy is the removal of an ovary and its Fallopian tube.[1] The "salpingoophorectomy," is a correct and accepted spelling, but much less common than "salpingo-oophorectomy."[citation needed] This procedure is most frequently associated with prophylactic surgery in response to the discovery of a BRCA1 mutation.
