Yegor (Cyrillic: Его́р), [jɪˈɡor]) is a Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian given name. Alternative spellings include Egor, Egori, Jegor. The name is an equivalent to the Greek name Georgios, the Germanic name Jäger. [citation needed] The name has Eastern European and Northern European origin that means hunter, archer, and spearman.[citation needed] Also it is associated[how?] with dragon, serpent or wyvern slaying as seen with Saint George, but the name "Yegor" is too old to be biblical.[citation needed] It is shared by the following people:
