Terapon is a genus of ray-finned fish in the family Terapontidae, the grunters.[2]

Its deprecated junior homonym is Therapon. It was introduced since "Terapon" was perceived as an incorrect rendering of the Greek word therapon.[3] In fact, the intended etymology was Template:Lang-el = "strange thing, monster, wonder" (cf. teratosaurus) + Template:Lang-el = "marine", pertaining to the sea.[2]

Species

There are three species in the genus Terapon:[2]
