Md. Monirul Islam (born 15 June 1970) is an additional commissioner of Bangladesh Police and the current Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC).[1] He played the key role in forming the CTTC unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.[2]

Biography

DIG Monirul Islam was born on 15 June 1970.[3] After completing HSC from Dhaka College, he graduated from Northumbria University in British Law. He obtained his Master's in English and Criminal Justice and postgraduate diploma in Genocide Studies from Dhaka University. He is also an adjunct faculty of Criminology at the University of Dhaka.[3]

Career

Monirul Islam joined the Bangladesh police force in 1995 as an ASP through Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.[3] He served in the Detective Branch for 9 years and Special Branch for 2 years. He is one of the founding officers of CTTC.[2]
