Sybreed (short for "synthetic breed") were an Industrial metal band from Geneva, Switzerland.

Career

The band was founded by Thomas "Drop" Betrisey (guitar) and Benjamin Nominet (vocals). The two wanted a band that unified their common predilection for metal and electronic music. On their first album Slave Design from 2004, Alex Anxonnia (drums) and Luis "Burn" Da Silva Cruz (bass) also played. Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork, Scarve, Aborted) appeared as a session musician on their second album Antares, which was released under Listenable Records.

Dirk Verbeuren was replaced on the album The Pulse of Awakening (2009) by Kevin Choiral, who became a regular band member. Stéphane Grand also joined around this time on bass. Rhys Fulber, mainly known for his work for Fear Factory (Synthes and Sound-Samples) and Front Line Assembly, provided mixing on the latest album.[1]

On 7 April 2010 the song "Doomsday Party" was released for free download for the console game Rock Band. In June 2011, Stéphane Grand left the band for personal and professional reasons. He was replaced by Ales Campanelli as a permanent member of the band.

Sybreed released their fourth album, "God Is An Automaton", In September 2012. The album spawned three music videos.

In October 2013, the band announced that singer Benjamin Nominet had left the band. All tour dates were cancelled and the band decided to break up.[2]
