List of A Certain Magical Index light novels
A Certain Magical Index is a Japanese light novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Kiyotaka Haimura. The series follows Tōma Kamijō, a high school student in the scientifically-advanced Academy City, who meets a young nun named Index from the Church of England whose mind has been implanted with the Index Librorum Prohibitorum: the magical texts which the church removed from circulation. His encounter with her leads him to meet others from the secret world of science and magic and into an adventure with his friends where science and magic collide.
ASCII Media Works published 24 volumes under their Dengeki Bunko imprint between April 10, 2004,[1] and October 10, 2010. Two of the 24 novels are short story compilations released in July 2007 and November 2008.[2][3] The first volume of a sequel series titled New Testament: Toaru Majutsu no Index was published on March 10, 2011. Yen Press have licensed the series in North America and began releasing it under their Yen On imprint in November 2014.[4] Toaru Majutsu no Index became Dengeki Bunko's No. 1 bestseller in May 2010.[5] In January 2013, it was reported that the novels had sold 14 million copies,[6] and the series was the fifth-highest-selling light novel in Japan at the time.[7]

Aleister's plan, the very purpose behind Academy City's creation and his sole goal for centuries, has failed, thanks to the efforts of Tōma and his friends. And as the plan falls apart, Archbishop Laura Stuart makes her move, killing Aleister with the Sword of Damocles and revealing herself to be the Great Demon Coronzon possessing his daughter Lola. To survive, Aleister diffuses the many alternate possibilities he contained within, a young female possibility known as Aleis-tan allying with Tōma and firing the Windowless Building into space to buy some time. Now the two must reunite with Tōma's friends and find a way to stop Coronzon. Meanwhile, Hamazura awakens wearing the powerful Processor Suit, framed for a crime he didn't commit, and hunted by the true criminal as well as Accelerator, as he defends an abandoned baby named Lillith.

With Coronzon having possessed the Anglican Archbishop for years, her influence is scattered across the British Commonwealth. Aleis-tan sends her unique possibilities, now dubbed the "Crowley's Hazards" to attack all traces of her in order to ease her defeat. Aleis-tan leads a group of Tōma, Index, Othinus, Accelerator, Hamazura, Takitsubo and Fran to attack England, Aleister's former home and Coronzon's base. Here, they find themselves facing the Anglican Church and the Knights of England, both groups possessed by the Madness of War. As they stage their attack, Academy City, which Aleis-tan infected with a virus to protect its cutting-edge technology from Coronzon, evacuates its students to various places around the world.

Aleis-tan and the others believed they'd found the remains of Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers in the graveyard of Westminster Abbey, which could be used to control Coronzon due to their past contract. Meanwhile, the frog-faced doctor arrives to help Mina Mathers prepare a body for Aleister, Hamazura and the Magic Gods Niang-Niang and Nephthys come across Golden sorcerer Dion Fortune, and Orsola and Kaori find themselves aiding Index and Fran in order to make up their actions under the Divine Mixture Isis-Demeter and the Madness of War.
