Even though the show was mostly panned, he was a critical standout being cited "Excellent" by John Lahr of "The New Yorker" and also receiving kind words from "New York Times" critic Ben Brantley.[6] He also played "Todd", Claudia Donovan's Allison Scagliotti short-term boyfriend and computer geek in Science fiction show Warehouse 13, who was placed under Witness Protection after witnessing a highly criminal act of fraud, he had to leave due to his identity being discovered by Claudia, who thought he was a spy. The film was released on September 6, 2013, and opened at number one. In December 2013, Funk was announced as the face of Versace's spring/summer 2014 menswear campaign, photographed by famed photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.[10]
On May 24, 2017, Funk was cast as Tyson Curran in the Blumhouse supernatural thriller film Truth or Dare.[11] The film was released in theaters on April 13, 2018.[12]
Funk was a series regular on the first season of the critically acclaimed Starz series “Counterpart” starring JK Simmons. Funk spoke German in the show and played Angel Eyes, a cult raised German assassin.
In 2019, Funk was cast as a series regular on the HBO Max Limited series “The Flight Attendant” opposite Kaley Cuoco.
