This is a survey of the postage stamps and postal history of South Korea.

South Korea is a country in East Asia, located on the southern portion of the Korean Peninsula.

First stamps

At the end of World War II, the southern half of the peninsula was administered by the United States. The first stamps of South Korea were issued on 1 February 1946 by overprinting Japanese stamps.[1][2] The Republic of Korea was proclaimed on August 15, 1948.
