Tarras International Airport is a proposed airport in Central Otago, New Zealand. The proposal was announced in July 2020 by Christchurch International Airport Limited. The council and government owned company has purchased 750 hectares of land near Tarras, at the intersection of State Highway 8 and State Highway 8A.[1]

The proposal is in part the result of expansion limitations affecting both Wanaka and Queenstown Airports nearby.[2][3]

Many residents of the surrounding area are opposed to the proposal, stating it will permanently change the area and their way of life.[4] The proposal has received support from industry groups.[5]
