Masashi Ando

Masashi Ando (安藤 雅司, Andō Masashi, born 1969) is a Japanese animator and character designer who was born in Hiroshima. He is known for working with Hayao Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon and Makoto Shinkai.

Background

Ando started as an animator for Studio Ghibli where he designed characters for titles such as Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. He later left Ghibli to design characters for Satoshi Kon's works like Paranoia Agent and Paprika. He was also the main character designer for A Letter to Momo. He later rejoined Studio Ghibli to work on The Tale of Princess Kaguya. He led the animation team for the Makoto Shinkai-directed Your Name.[1]
