Take.2 We Are Here is the third Korean-language studio album by the South Korean boy group Monsta X. The album was released on February 18, 2019 by Starship Entertainment and distributed by Kakao M.[3][4] It features ten songs, including the lead single, "Alligator".[5]

Background

The album was described as the concept of "finding hope between loss and wondering".[5] We Are Here is fronted by the fierce dance track "Alligator", which uses the reptilian metaphor to dramatically depict the intentions of someone aiming for the attentions of a romantic interest. It was also connected to the lead single, "Shoot Out" from Are You There? album with the 7 Deadly Sins of Christian theology concept.[6]

Commercial performance

Even before the announcement of the album title, it was already one of "The 10 Most Anticipated K-pop Albums of 2019" by Billboard.[7] The album debuted at no. 1 on both weekly and monthly Gaon Album Chart and no. 1 and no. 3 on weekly and monthly Gaon Retail Album Chart respectively, and sold 174,371 copies for its first month (in exactly just eleven days after the release date) in South Korea.[8][9][10][11] The lead single, "Alligator" peaked at no. 1, no. 27, and no. 76 on weekly Gaon Social Chart, Gaon Download Chart, and Gaon BGM Chart respectively.[12][13][14]
