DYAB (TV 2) is a commercial television station of Philippine television network ABS-CBN Corporation. Its studio is located at ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center, 5/F Uytingkoc Bldg., Avenida Veteranos, Tacloban City and the transmitter is located at Mt. Naga-Naga, Tacloban City. On November 8 to December 23, 2013, ABS-CBN Tacloban went off the air for the first time in six weeks because of the landfall of Typhoon Haiyan, which damaged ABS-CBN's equipment, its transmitter and the building. It only resumed operations on December 23, 2013, after power was restored in the city and ABS-CBN bought new equipment for DYAB-TV prior to Christmas.

History

In 1988, as part of the nationwide relaunch of ABS-CBN which began the year before with the flagship station in Manila, DYAB-TV, following a year of preparatory work, relaunched under its network's original owner and introduced a variant of the national Star Network ident with the famous numerical gold tri-ribbon Channel 2 logo with a star at the end, with the number 2 being made up of three white stripes (later changed to the red, green and blue stripes, matching that of Channel 2 Manila's later idents).

ABS-CBN Tacloban started commercial television operations in 1997 as the revival DYAB-TV channel 2, the first provincial TV station in the Philippines. DYAB-TV was launched by Bolinao Electronics Corporation, later renamed Alto Broadcasting System to formerly established in Tacloban City and the Eastern Visayas region. It first aired a four-hours-a-day schedule (6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.), transmitter on a 10-killowatts radius within Tacloban City and nearby islands.

On April 13, 1998, TV Patrol Eastern Visayas (originally known as TV Patrol Tacloban), the channel's flagship newscast was launched as the first and the longest-running regional TV Patrol newscast in the Philippines. With, DYAB became the first regional station of the ABS-CBN network to introduce local newscasts.

On November 8, 2013, ABS-CBN Tacloban went off the air for the first time in six weeks because of the landfall of Typhoon Haiyan, which damaged ABS-CBN's equipment, its transmitter and the building.

On December 23, 2013, the program returns after power was restored in the city and ABS-CBN bought new equipment for DYAB-TV prior to Christmas.

On May 5, 2020, ABS-CBN Tacloban went off the air temporarily suspended for the second time as a result of the cease and desist order of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) after the franchise expiration.
