Ramesh Choudary also known by his stage name Jithan Ramesh, is an Indian film actor who works in Tamil and Telugu cinema. He is the third son of film producer R. B. Choudary and elder brother of actor Jiiva. He made his Tamil debut in the film Jithan (2005), which shot him to stardom, and, as of 2014, he became a producer for the film Jilla.

Personal life

Jithan Ramesh is the third son of R. B. Choudary and the elder brother of actor Jiiva.[1] His father is a Hindu of Marwari heritage born in Chennai to Marwari-speaking Rajasthani migrants. His mother, Mahjabeen, is a Tamil Muslim also from Chennai. Although his mother is a Muslim, Choudary practices Hinduism along with his siblings. He attended Gill Adarsh Higher Secondary School in Royapettah, Chennai and he completed his Business Administration degree from D.G. Vaishnav College. Choudary married Shilpa in February 2006 and their daughter Toshna was born in January 2007.[2]

Film career

2004–2007

He first appeared in a Telugu film titled Vidyardhi.[3] His first entry into the Tamil Film industry was with the film Jithan (2005), which was a box office super-hit, starring Sarath Kumar as an important character in the movie and also Pooja Umashankar.

He began to sign many films on a signing spree, but his three releases in 2006, Madhu, Jerry and Nee Venunda Chellam did not do as well as expected. His next film Madurai Veeran (2007) released to negative reviews. Then, the family film, Puli Varudhu (2007).

2011–2016

After a long stop, he returns in the drama film, Pillaiyar Theru Kadaisi Veedu (2011). Ramesh teams up with Silambarasan for Osthe (2011), playing brother to the lead role in the Tamil version of Dabangg.[4] In 2016, he acted in Jithan 2. Its sequel has been written Vincent Selva, and directed by newcomer Rahul. Ramesh continues to play the timid and bullied Surya, while Srushti Dange has been roped in to play the female lead. The film revolves around Surya’s adventures in a haunted house.[5]

2019–present

In 2019, he play in the second Telegu film, Okate Life, a romantic action entertainer directed by M Venkat.[6] He returns to Tamil cinema after three years with Ongala Podanum Sir.[7]
