She represented Australia in the Women's 400m and Women's 4 × 400 m Relay at the 2016 Summer Olympics.[7] Her personal best in the 400 metres is 51.25 seconds set in Birmingham in 2016.
In 2019, Mitchell switched focus to the 800 metres, rapidly improving to her current personal best of 2:00.06.[8]
