Kalain is a town in the Cachar district of Assam, India. It is 28 kilometres (17 mi) from the district headquarters, Silchar, and is called the "Gateway of the Barak Valley." Kalain has got wonderful landscapes and considerable tea gardens around it. There are three railway stations, one at Hilara,[1] one at Sukritipur.[2] and one at Behara[3]

The people mostly communicate in Sylheti but all major and minor groups of North-East Indian languages like Bishnupriya Manipuri, Khasi, Kachari, Kuki etc. are well spoken among the several groups in Kalain.
