Chia-Hao Tang[1] (Chinese: 唐嘉壕; born August 24, 1988), professionally known as Chase Tang, is a Taiwanese-Canadian actor,[2][3] mental health advocate,[4] and philanthropist.[5]

Tangs appears as Baryon in the Netflix series, Jupiter's Legacy.[5] He is also a former Nova Scotia AAA hockey player.[6][7] Tang lives in Toronto, Canada.[8]

Early life and education

Tang was born to in Taipei, Taiwan.[9] He has two elder brothers. In 1994, Tang's family immigrated to Bedford, Nova Scotia.[10] He grew up in Bedford and Upper Tantallon, playing hockey.,[11] Tang played for the Halifax MacDonald's Hockey Midget Triple 'A' league for two years.[5]

Tang attended Sir John A. Macdonald High School.[12] He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph in Ontario.

In 2016, for mental issues, Tang left his corporate job in Toronto to pursue modeling and acting.[5] Tang began his first acting class in May 2016, and in August 2018 joined Actra.[13]

Career

Tang's acting career began in 2017 with uncredited roles. His debut professional acting started with a POM Wonderful.[14] Since then, he has worked in several short films[2] and TV series.[15] His movie, View, was viewed at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2020, Tang became the global spokesman of Presotea, a bubble tea brand in Taiwan.[16][17] He is an ambassador for TITIKA Active Couture.

Tang appears in the Run (American TV series),.[18]

Activism

Tang utilizes his celebrity platform to raise mental health awareness.[4] He talked on mental health for The Asian Mental Health Collective,[19] and was featured in the UN Environment Programme's (UNEP) "World Is In Our Hands" campaign, a UN's Act Now initiative for climate change awareness.[20]

Awards and recognition

Tang was placed second on the top 10 rising Asian actors in Hollywood by Internet Movie Database.[5]
