"A Film for the Future"
Song

"A Film for the Future" is a song by Scottish rock band Idlewild, from their 1998 debut album Hope Is Important. It was the first single to be released from the album and charted at #53 in the UK Singles Chart in April 1998 (see 1998 in British music). The song was used in the videogame Gran Turismo.

Roddy Woomble told The Skinny (magazine) in a video interview in 2015 the song "kind of launched our career on a major label". He added: "Because up until that point we had always been on independent labels. So, yeah, I think there was high hopes for that song and I think to a certain degree it established us, a wee bit. And it was a good song to be known for when we were playing live, because our live concerts were known for, like, chaos and excitement. Of course, the way we play it now is completely different."
