Andrate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Turin. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 487 and an area of 9.3 square kilometres (3.6 sq mi).[3]

Andrate borders the following municipalities: Settimo Vittone, Donato, Nomaglio, Borgofranco d'Ivrea, and Chiaverano.

Etymology of the name

The name of this town may have celtic origins. It may come from the words and (end) and art (land).
