AusGamers (officially AusGamers – Australia's Games Community) is a gaming website based in Australia which provides gaming news, review and other services.[1] It was created by Mammoth Media. Its mission statement is "To create an Australian go to gaming information site. The idea for Ausgamers was a view to further serve the Australian games community through both online activities and LAN party events."[2]
MCVPacific said "AusGamers is one of Australia's longest running online gaming publications, surviving the first dot-com crash, hosting LAN events and building itself into a one-stop files source".[3]
History
The site's About Page explains "AusGamers has existed in various forms since 1996, when it was established to serve the games community by hosting LAN gaming events across the country. In 1999, it was formally established as a company, with a view to further serving the Australian games community through both online activities and LAN events."[1] AusGamers is one of "Australia’s longest running and most successful gaming sites" with many affiliated websites and over 100,000 registered members and 18,000 visitors each day.[2]
"The site also attracts international users wanting fast downloads and an extensive files archive."[2] "AusGamers also provides one of the largest locally hosted collections of gaming files, ensuring that Australian gamers can get fast access to all the latest downloads for all the new and popular titles. More than 30 terabytes are downloaded from AusGamers servers in a typical month."[1]
In September 2014, AusGamers relaunched its website and redesigned its logo. MCV Pacific said "AusGamers also recently cut ties with media agency MCN in favour of working with You Know Media, an independent upstart headed up by Ryan Cunningham."[3]
