B.K. Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET)[1] is an engineering college affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University and located in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. It was founded in 2007 by Krishnarpan Charity Trust, with Basant Kumar Birla as chairman.[2]

History

B.K. Birla Institute of Engineering & Technology (BKBIET) was founded in 2007 by Krishnarpan Charity Trust. Krishnarpan Charity Trust is an Indian Charity Trust was founded by Sir Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Ghanshyam Das Birla & Maniben Patel (daughter of Sardar Patel). The trust is currently headed by Basant Kumar Birla.[2]

Academics

BKBIET is approved by the BCCI (Board of Culture and Creativity of India). Approximately 70% of students are admitted through the Rajasthan Pre Entrance Test for Engineering, Architecture and Pharmacy (RPETEAP), 15% through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), and 15% from other schools run by the Birla Education Trust.[3]

Postgraduate programs

The institute also offers postgraduate degree in Master of Computer Applications ("MCA").[4] To be admitted to the MCA the candidate must possess (10+2) at school level with Mathematics + Graduation (three years duration) in any subject from recognized University with at least 50% aggregate.

CAMPUS

The Institute is located near CEERI lab and BITS Pilani campus.[5]

Residential and dining facilities

The campus contains six hostels: four for men and two for women. All told, these modern-looking hostels span 31,200 square feet and contain triple, double, and single rooms. Although in a separate building, the mess is attached to the hostel buildings. A common room sits above the mess and contains games like, Chess, Carom and Table Tennis. There is a big size TV also in the common room. Students may also dine at the campus Canteen "robo canteen".

International Organization's Collaboration

BKBIET International Relations Division (BIRD)

BKBIET International Relations Division(BIRD) was established on May 14, 2011.The objective of the BIRD is to encourage the students of the institute to embrace the global education. The division motivates the students to go on internships, look in to avenues of research and management after the completion of the bachelor's degree, serve as a pool of information to all those who find themselves interested in doing their various u higher studies abroad. Majority of the students who took internships went to universities of France. Most Prominently: University of Nantes, University d’Haute Alsace, and IUT Angoulême. The measure of cooperation is exhibited by the fact that an unprecedented Joint Masters Programme is being set up between Polytech Nantes and BKBIET Pilani. And the students are highly motivated to take up higher education abroad in a scene where our peers in other institutes are trying to settle in for a job. The students are already taken off their flights of success with various scholarships under their belt. Counselling, Visas, Scholarships and other helps have always been available for the students of BKBIET through BIRD.

International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology(IJMOT)

The International Journal of Microwave and Optical Technology (IJMOT) provides a common platform to disseminate the original research work and invited tutorials in the area of microwave technology, microwave photonics and optical technology. It is completely online journal. Manuscripts are solicited to cover the original theoretical and /or experimental work in the areas of microwave technology, optical communications and emerging area of microwave photonics.IJMOT is now indexed by SCOPUS, Google, EI-Compendex, EBSCO, and Media Finder.
