Blountstown High School is a high school located in Blountstown, Florida, the county seat of Calhoun County, Florida.

Blountstown FFA

The Blountstown High School FFA Chapter is one of the largest clubs at Blountstown High School.


Public Speaking:

Will Leonard won first place for the National FFA Prepared Public Speaking contest in 2007.

Trent Smith was fourth in the state for Creed Speaking in 2009.

Karis Smith was second in the state for Creed Speaking in 2008.


Farm Business Management: Harlea Perdue, Travis Pittman and Stewart Herndon claimed the 2010 State Championship. Harlea Perdue was high individual.

Ashley Adams, Jessica Collier, Karis Smith & Caitlyn Stewart won first place in the nation in 2009. Caitlyn Stewart was also third in the nation.

Morgan Davis, Catherine Gurliaccio, Laura Stoltzfus, and Aubrey Tharpe placed 14th in the nation in 2008.

Max Herndon, Amy Reid, Jeff Stewart & Nic Stoltzfus competed and placed second Nationally in 2007.


Forestry:

Daniel Leonard, David Leonard, Stewart Herndon and Laura Stoltzfus won first place in the nation in 2009. Daniel Leonard was second in the nation, Stewart Herndon fourth, and David Leonard fifth.

Jennie Fagen, Will Leonard, Max Herndon, and Nic Stoltzfus won first place in the nation in 2006.


Ag Issues Forum:

Morgan Davis, Kate McFarland, Alison Slongo & Alixx Smith won first place in state in 2009 and received a bronze rating at the national level.

Overall:

Since 2005, the Blountstown FFA has recorded 11 state championships! Four in business management, two in forestry, one each in Ag Issues, Ag Communications, Public Speaking, Forestry Management Proficiency and Outdoor Recreation Proficiency.

Football

The Tigers had one of the top high school football programs in the state of Florida. They won state titles in 1973, 1976, and 1977, and were class 1A state runners-up in 2004. The current head coach is Greg Jordan, a Blountstown native who was an assistant a BHS for several years before leaving in 2005 to be the head coach at Wewahitchka High School in Wewahitchka, Florida. He left the Wewahitchka Gators at the end of the year, despite leading the Gators to the playoffs and a winning season. The Tigers are a member of FHSAA Class 2B, District 2 football.
