Caitlin Thwaites (born 29 December 1986) is an Australian netball and volleyball player. Thwaites played for the Melbourne Vixens from 2008 to 2010 in 2009 winning the ANZ Championship Grand Final over the Adelaide Thunderbirds In 2011 Thwaites made the move across the Tasman to join the Central Pulse in the ANZ Championship, and plays in her known position of GS. In 2012 Thwaites made her international debut for the Australian Diamonds.[1] In 2014 Caitlin Thwaites crossed the Tasman again and is now playing for the NSW Swifts. [2] Thwaites has also represented Australia in women's volleyball.[3] In 2009, Thwaites played her first game against World 7 in the second half. Thwaites was named as one of the 23 Australian netball players for the Australian selection camp. Thwaites played a vital role in the Central Pulse in 2011, scoring 431 goals for an accuracy percentage 81.3 per cent. Caitlin thought she was ineligible for selection because she played for a New Zealand team. [4] Thwaites was the only player from a New Zealand team to make selection.[5] In 2014 Thwaites was named in the Australian Netball Diamonds to compete in the 2014 Commonwealth Games who later went on to claim gold medal.

Early life and career

Caitlin Thwaites was born in Bendigo, Australia. Thwaites started playing Netball at the age of 7. Caitlin attended Kennington Primary School and Girton Grammar. Thwaites started off her career playing for the Melbourne Kestrels when she was just 16. However, once the ANZ Championship was founded, the Kestrels merged with fellow Melbourne team, the Melbourne Phoenix. Thwaites played for the Melbourne Vixens from 2008-2010. She was an instrumental role in the Vixens 2009 championship win, playing a key role in GS throughout the season.
