Cannelton is an unincorporated community in Fayette County, West Virginia, United States. Cannelton is 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Smithers, along Smithers Creek.[2] Cannelton has a post office with ZIP code 25036.[3]

The community was named for the production of cannel coal near the town site.[4]
