Papua New Guinea Failed coup

[edit]

Hi guys, there was recently a failed military coup in Papua New Guinea and I noticed its not on here. Anyone care to take the time and add it? (unsigned comment by unregistered user 124.189.192.240)

You're referring to the 2011–2012 Papua New Guinean constitutional crisis. It's questionable whether it may be considered a "coup". There was a brief mutiny, but for the most part it's a constitutional disagreement between two men who both claim to be the legitimate Prime Minister. I would not call it a "failed military coup", not least because there was definitely no coup by the military; there was an attempt by a retired colonel and a handful of soldiers to enforce a court ruling by attempting to take hostage the head of the military.
