Reducing category size[edit]

How about a fiction stub? Or subcategory stubs by nationality of author (US-book-stub or US-fict-stub)? | Keithlaw 14:38, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Proposals - SoM 14:59, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I entered both proposals here. Thanks. | Keithlaw 22:10, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think there needs to be a few more stub categories. Perhaps a Teenage Fiction/Young Adult stub? There are a few books on the list I wouldn't put in Childrens book stub that would definately fit in a Teenage Fiction one. And how about a... Detective book stub? Or Horror?Tartan 20:30, 10 January 2006 (UTC) Sorry, just noticed the proposal page![reply]

There are a lot of novels in this list. Is it alright if I put them into Catagory:Novel stubs for futher sorting. This will thin the list by at least 100 articles. The novels then can be sorted further. I am willing to help with both parts. Eagle (talk) (desk) 00:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem with this. There are sub catagories which are populared just by changing the stub to s genre of novel - see the Category:Book stubs. and you could make up a Template:novel-stub as the ones arround it are set up and use that. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 10:01, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This will make it easier to do with the autowikibrowser.Eagle (talk) (desk) 00:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. sorry, right now I am regex(ing) for biograhies and autobiograhies in this list. I have found 24 (approx. 1.4% of the articles in this category)articles that matched the criteria. These were placed in the correct stub category(thus no longer in the main category:Book stubs). Eagle (talk) (desk) 00:59, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that after the Mystery stub it says incl Crime and Detection in brackets. What does this mean? Because there is already a Crime category (under subcategories, but I'm just about to add it to the main list). If someone could clarify thisit would really help. when i started work here (recently the arrangement was in disarray, still is really. I am steadily trying to work my way through it. I have left that one alone thinking that most of the titles could be transfered to "mystery-novel-stub" or left to remain as "non fiction" crime. I will move it now to no fiction anotated as work in progress. I will create a crime-novel-stub for those non mystery/detection stories. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page) 17:08, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The category has shrunk[edit]

Due to a excellent effort by WP:NOVEL, this stub category is now around 400 articles. This is down from the 1500 that this started at.... I belive that the tag needs to be removed so attention can be focused else where. :-)

We need new book categeries stubs[edit]

I recommend the Categories and Subcategories below. Yours truly, --Ludvikus 00:21, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Ludvikus! I appreciate your efforts. Looks like Category:Controversial literature has been created, which will probably serve your purposes. However, since literature and publications are stub-sorted by genre and occasionally by country, it's unlikely there will be a stub based on whether an item is controversial (too subjective). So I guess we'll have to use the book-stub template after all. Cheers, Her Pegship (tis herself) 03:01, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
