Something Is Not Working Right[edit]

I have come across a couple of pages on this list while fixing the listas parameter. One did not seem to have anything wrong but still had the warning. The article has DEFAULTSORT:Suarez, Xavier, surrounded by double braces, once and the word "listas" does not appear on the page. The talk page has, in the proper template, listas=Suarez, Xavier, preceded by a pipe symbol. The name in the listas on the talk page was pasted from DEFAULTSORT in the article. The word DEFAULT does not appear on the talk page.

Why is there a conflict? Why has to be done to resolve the conflict?

The problem at Talk:Xavier Suarez was that Template:WPFlorida sets DEFAULTSORT to the page name if listas is not specified. I fixed provided it with a listas. Several other project templates do the same thing (wrongly IMHO).—teb728 t c 19:17, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that with Greece, Wine and Ireland. Greece is a hoot. if the Greece template looks like a bombed-out building that refuses to fall down it is because the listas parameter is missing.
Because of that resolving the conflicts is now merely tedious, not difficult. Just to have a feeling of accomplishment I wiped out "X" and the two that were after "Z". I am back on "A". Feel free to jump in at any time.
I do not mind that the other templates use the listas parameter in that way. I do mind that the other projects do not announce that their templates are missing the listas parameter. Templates behaving badly?

This Is Interesting[edit]

The cast of Emmerdale farm appeared here since I had last looked. Each that I checked had a valid Defaultsort value but a message the this value overrides earlier defaultsort key "Wylde, Maisie". I could not find "Wylde, Maisie" on the page so I opened the page in edit mode and pasted the contents into a pretty good text editor. It could not find Maisie or Wylde.

Does anyone have any ideas on where Maisie is?

Yes, almost certainly Maisie Wylde was transcluded using "onlyinclude" to select the part needed. This is a good/bad idea, good in that it re-uses content. Bad in that someone inevitably breaks the "onlyinclude" resulting in this type of error. Rich Farmbrough, 21:22, 1 March 2012 (UTC).[reply]
