Notes

[edit]

Is Culture lists the right place for this? If not a branch of medicine, its at least related since some medical insurance companies will pay (a pittance) for psychological treatment, so perhaps the Medical lists category. If not, then it's certainly a science and could fit under Science lists. --JeffW 14:18, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the pickin's were pretty slim when I started this, so I took my best guess. Psychology is a "Social science" so I moved it under "Science." Rfrisbietalk 21:13, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sort rules

[edit]

Obviously any sort rules are fine as long as they're consistent. So, for the sake of consistency, I'll described the sort rules I just applied (I largely inferred them from past sorting):

  • Ignore index of, outline of, and list of. I moved them to the end (e.g. "medications, list of") but removing them would have the same effect. Keep timeline of.
  • Remove adjectives like important.
  • In most cases, remove adjectival forms of psychology (e.g. psychology disciplines becomes disciplines); psychology is implied by this being the psychology list category.
    • RARE: Where adjectival forms of psychiatry are entirely interchangeable with adjectival forms of psychology, remove it. The only instances of this currently are psychiatric medications which became medications. All psychiatric medications could also be described as psychological medications.
  • Remove any irrelevant nouns - some lists will actually cover multiple topics, some of which are irrelevant to psychology.

The only one that I couldn't figure out the approach to was List of Russian physicians and psychologists. I decided to sort it under Russian psychologists, but I was equally as happy with it sorting to Psychologists, Russian under the concept that if we had a list like this for each country, you'd want them all to be together. But with just one, I can also see that people may look under Russia for Russia-related lists. If someone else commits to one, or decides to change the "rules" in some other way, then please comment and describe them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xurizuri (talkcontribs) 23:48, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
