Map

[edit]

@DexDor: I'm strongly in favour of a map, but with the WGSRPD definition of Europe, Georgia and Russia as a whole aren't subcategories, so there would need to be some adjustments,to the content of the category. What's really needed, I think, is a set of maps that expand on the one at Category:Fauna by continent, which can't be the WGSRPD maps, because that system doesn't use Oceania. I've moved the Georgia category to Asia. Russian spiders (some of which may be endemic to Vladivostock) shouldn't all be categorized under Europe, but I'm not sure the best way to deal with that in the long term. Regarding Oceania: a solution may be to reorganise to Australasia / Pacific, but I haven't looked into the details of that yet. DexDor (talk) 16:40, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@DexDor: it would be really, really useful if there were clear guidance on how to categorize fauna distributions, and you'll have my support if you want to work on it, but I guess it might be hard to get consensus across the Wikiprojects – it was easier for plants. I'm putting notes at User:DexDor/Categorization of species by geography (any comments on that are welcome) and (slowly) tidying up this categorization. DexDor (talk) 18:16, 24 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
